The pair have to keep a social distance from each other while inside the London studio, so in order to keep them both on screen, editors have been trimming the gap, making them appear closer.
But this comes with its own little errors – mainly when the pair have to cross over out of frame, seeing body parts disappear and cups of tea emerge from thin air.
On today’s show, the morning duo decided to just roll with it – and puckered up to give viewers something to talk about.
Talking about the kissing scenes that take place on EastEnders, Piers revealed he’d been having dinner with Jake Wood (Max Branning) and discussing how they were done safely.
‘They all have to be done through perspex glass, and even better, they’re bringing in the partners – male and female – of the stars, the real life partners are being brought in for the steamy close up kissing stuff, and they’re wearing wigs!,’ Piers said.
‘Do you know what? You could do it, using the split screen!,’ Susanna then suggested, puckering up in his direction and leaning in.
Giving it a go, Piers then laughed as he leaned in too – with some sexy music in the background to give the pair some ambiance.
Both getting the giggles over the moment, the duo tried again, with Piers’s hands disappearing as he crossed the invisible edit border.
Viewers couldn’t resist laughing along with them – even if they did question Piers’s kissing technique.
Elsewhere on today’s show, the pair caught up with their co-star Ranvir Singh, who is currently deep in training for Strictly 2020.
Revealing she’s already lost half a stone just from training, Ranvir added that she was ‘too scared to eat’ ahead of launch night on Saturday.
However, things soon went a bit awry when a mouse appeared on the set – throwing off Piers and Susanna as they spoke.
‘There’a mouse on the studio floor,’ Piers declared. ‘There’s been shrieks and wails, a lot of drama here during the commercial break.
‘It’s now under one of the cameras.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
