The very first trailer for a new documentary looking back on Robin Williams’ closing days has been unveiled.
Robin’s Wish features interviews with those who understood the Oscar-winning actor, including his widow Susan Schneider Williams, in addition to medical specialists offering commentary on Lewy Body Dementia, the ailment he had been living with prior to his death by suicide at 2014.
“For the first time, Robin’s fight against a deadly esophageal disorder, called Lewy Body Dementia, is shown in magnificent detail.
“Through a gripping journalistic lens, this unbelievable story sheds an entirely new light on the tragedy, power and beauty behind the mind of one of the best entertainers of all time. ”
Robin’s wife Susan Schneider Williams stated: “During the past year of his lifetime, Robin was confronted with stress, paranoia, sleeplessness, scary altered realities plus a roller coaster of hope and despair. With our medical staff ’s care, we chased a constant parade of symptoms but with hardly any gain.
“It wasn’t before later Robin’s death, in autopsy, the source of his terror has been revealed: he had diffuse Lewy body disease. It was among the worst instances medical professionals had seen. ”
Susan also clarified that the documentary’therefore name has been motivated by the late celebrity ’s aspiration to make individuals “less fearful ”.
“We had been discussing what we wanted our own legacies to be in life; when it was our time to proceed, how we wanted to have made people feel,” she recalled. “without even missing a beat, Robin stated, ‘I want to help people be afraid’. ”
Robin’s Wish is going to be made available to watch on demand from 1 September.
