Bachelor host Chris Harrison has reportedly been fired from Cameo following the backlash he faced for his comments on racism during an interview with Bachelorette alum Rachel Lindsay.

Cameo is an American video-sharing website that allows celebrities to send personalised video messages to fans.

The TV presenter, who has hosted the reality show since 2002, was charging $350-$500 (£247-£353) for personalised videos but on Monday, the website shut down access for fans to book Chris.

The 49-year-old joined the celebrity video-sharing website in 2018 and has surprised hundreds of fans with messages ever since.

According to The Sun, the reality star initially began charging fans $500 per video message, although he recently dropped down the price to $350.

Up until Sunday evening, Harrison was able to send video messages. However, the “Book” button has now been changed to “Notify me when available”.

There have been calls for Harrison to be fired from his role on The Bachelor after he made comments that ‘perpetuated racism’ during an interview with Lindsay – the first Black woman to be appointed The Bachelorette in 2017.

The scandal began when photos emerged of Rachael Kirkconnell in attendance at a ‘plantation-themed fraternity party’ in 2018, while she has also been accused of bullying an old schoolmate for dating a Black man.

Kirkconnell has also been at the centre of claims that she bullied a schoolmate for dating a black man and has been accused of cultural appropriation and supporting those who believe in Donald Trump’s MAGA sentiments.

She has since apologised, calling her actions – which also included liking post that included Confederate flags and MAGA items in the background – ‘racist and offensive’.

Harrison had been attempting to dismiss the backlash she was facing and claimed the contestant was being ‘thrown to the wolves’ before fan reaction to his comments led him to apologise.

In his apology he confirmed that he would not be hosting the live After the Final Rose special when the season ends.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Chris’ rep and Cameo for comment.
